The Late Shift: Every 2026/27 Premier League Kick-Off, in Singapore Time
Nine in ten matches start at 10pm or later. One in four starts after midnight. And on one Thursday in December, eight games kick off between 3.30am and 4.15am.

On Thursday 3 December, eight Premier League matches kick off between 3.30am and 4.15am Singapore time. None of them is unusual. They are ordinary midweek fixtures, scheduled for a Wednesday evening in England, and they arrive in the small hours of a working Thursday across Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Manila and Beijing.
A Saturday 3pm kick-off, the traditional centre of the English season, is 10pm in Singapore while British clocks are on summer time and 11pm once they go back. That is the early game.
I took all 380 matches of the 2026/27 season from the Premier League's official fixture list and converted every kick-off to Singapore time (SGT, UTC+8), handling both UK clock changes: back on 25 October 2026, forward on 28 March 2027. Singapore does not change its clocks.
One caveat before the numbers. The league has confirmed kick-off times and television selections only for the first 20 matchweeks, up to 7 January 2027. Matchweeks 21 to 38 have dates but no selections yet, so they appear below at their default slots, 3pm at weekends and 8pm midweek. Those counts will move.
| Kick-off in SGT | Confirmed times: matchweeks 1–20 (200 matches) | Default slots only: matchweeks 21–38 (180 matches) | Whole season today (380 matches) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Before 10pm | 30 | 0 | 30 |
| 10pm to 11:59pm | 90 | 160 | 250 |
| 12am to 1:59am | 27 | 0 | 27 |
| 2am or later | 53 | 20 | 73 |
| 10pm or later | 170 (85%) | 180 (100%) | 350 (92%) |
| After midnight | 80 (40%) | 20 (11%) | 100 (26%) |
| After 2am | 53 (27%) | 20 (11%) | 73 (19%) |
Counts as of 27 October 2026, from the league's fixture list updated 19 October. “10pm or later” includes kick-offs at exactly 10pm: 45 of the 200 confirmed matches, 125 of the 380 overall. Strictly after 10pm, the whole-season figure is 225. No match starts at exactly midnight or 2am.
Almost nothing is an evening game
Of the 200 matches with confirmed times, 170 start at 10pm SGT or later. The 30 that do not are all television picks: the Saturday 12.30pm slot, which is 7.30pm or 8.30pm in Singapore depending on the clock change, Sunday 2pm games played while British clocks were still on summer time, and a single Sunday noon kick-off.
The clock change shifts the whole schedule by an hour. Until 24 October, 3pm in England was 10pm in Singapore. From 25 October to 27 March it is 11pm. From 28 March it is 10pm again. All 80 matches in matchweeks 31 to 38, which begin on 10 April, currently sit at the default 3pm slot, so they show as 10pm starts for now.
Television is what pushes games past midnight
Every one of the 80 confirmed matches that starts after midnight in Singapore is a televised selection: Saturday 5.30pm in England, which is 12.30am or 1.30am SGT, Sunday 4.30pm in winter, which is 12.30am, and the evening slots. Of the 61 matches still sitting at the default 3pm, not one starts later than 11pm.
That gap is the whole story. The Saturday 3pm slot is blacked out for British television, so selected matches are moved off it. Left alone, the fixture list would keep almost all of Asia's viewing inside a single late-evening band. Broadcasting is what scatters it across the night.
The hard part is midweek, in winter
All 53 confirmed matches that start at 2am or later fall on Friday and Monday nights, midweek evenings, or a handful of Saturday 8pm and Sunday 7pm slots. A 7.30pm or 8pm kick-off in England is 3.30am or 4am in Singapore once the clocks have gone back. December and January hold 37 of those 53.
Matchweeks 13, 18 and 20 are midweek rounds, and all 30 of their matches start after 2am. Which brings us back to Thursday 3 December: eight games, 3.30am and 4.15am, on a Thursday.
What this shows, and what it does not
I have no viewing figures, and a fixture list cannot say who actually watches. What it can say is what the schedule asks of people. A weekend 3pm game is a late-evening choice. Anything after midnight is a decision about sleep. A 3.30am Thursday in December is a decision about the next working day.
On confirmed times, 40% of the season starts after midnight in Singapore and more than a quarter starts after 2am. The Premier League is built around 3pm on an English Saturday, and there is no reason it should not be. But seen from Singapore it is a late-night league with an overnight one running through midweek, and watching live is a choice rather than a habit.
What could still change
- Matchweeks 21 to 38 (180 matches, 16 January to 30 May 2027) have dates only. The league's estimated schedule puts television selections for matchweeks 21–23 in the week of 30 November, 24–27 in the week of 21 December, and 28–30 in the week of 18 January, with later rounds following.
- Confirmed rounds can still move. The league says all fixtures are subject to change, including for cup and European commitments.
- The final day, 30 May 2027, carries no time on the official list, so I have used the 3pm default.
- No projection. In the confirmed rounds, 139 of 200 matches (70%) are televised, and 80 of those start after midnight. If later rounds follow the same pattern, the after-midnight and after-2am counts will rise. That is an expectation rather than a count, and I have not projected one.
How this was counted
I took each match's date and time from the league's published list, treating any match with no stated time as the 3pm default. I converted every kick-off from UK local time, GMT or BST as applicable to that date, into SGT using the IANA time zone database, then counted the kick-offs in each band. I cross-checked all 380 dates and times against an independent fixture feed. It agreed on 370 of them, and the ten differences were all final-day matches. Match-by-match conversions are available on request.
